Mid-American Conference All-Decade Football Team

CBS has announced their selections for the 1999-2008 Mid American Conference All-Decade team. Because Marshall departed and UCF used the MAC as a stop over several alumni from schools no longer on the list in the MAC lineup.

Larry English, the Mid American Conference Player of the Decade (per CBS) caps off a group of four Northern Illinois Huskies on the team, the most of any school in the conference. Followed by three from Marshall, Central Michigan, and Western Michigan.

  2. josh cribbs not being on this list is a crime. there wasn't a better college football player in the MAC during the time i was watching constantly (2001-2005).

  3. 1) Chester Taylor?
    2) Big Ben Roethlisberger?
    3) Josh Harris?
    4) Steve Sanders?
    5) Martin Nance?

This list is about as good as that greatest coaches list put out by the sporting news. Ill informed and not thought out.

  5. It appears they only chose one QB, so that's why Big Ben or Cribbs don't appear on it. It'd be hard to pick against Leftwich if you're only picking one QB though. He was unbelievable.

  6. I have to agree Phil, in terms of overall career you have to give the nod to Ben but in the MAC Leftwich was far and away the best QB of the decade..

  7. Dave Zastudil is the MAC punter of the decade. Miller had great numbers while Kern and Hodges were NFL draft picks. Nonetheless Dave Zastudil tops them all, no contest.

Others who deserved placement: Barry Church, Max Yates, Josh Harris, Steve Sciullo, Ryan Diem, Chase Blackburn, Randee Drew, Darius Hill, and Ben Roethlisberger.

  8. The MAC player of the decade: Nick Kaczur. 4-time All-MAC, 3-time 1st Team, made time and space for the lofty numbers of Chester Taylor, Bruce Gradkowski, Lance Moore, and a committee of other RBs.

Besides, how many MAC players do you know who have started on a 16-0 NFL squad?
